Job Title: Quality Inspector (Engineering)
Sector: Defence, Aerospace & Nuclear
Reporting To: Chief Inspector
Location: Avonmouth, Bristol
Contract Type: Permanent / Full Time
Hours: 37.5 hours per Week
THE COMPANY
Fowlers of Bristol (Engineers) Ltd is a well-established Bristol based manufacturing firm which produces high quality, sheet metal & precision engineered products predominantly for the Aerospace, Defence and Nuclear industries. We employ approx. 25 staff and operate a single day shift with occasional overtime.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Reporting to the Chief Inspector, the successful candidate will be part of a 3 strong quality assurance team, with a focus on inspection of sheet metal & machined parts predominantly for the Defence and Aerospace sectors while assisting with other day-to-day duties within the department.
MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Read & interpret engineering drawings
2. Inspection of parts using manual equipment such as micrometers, height gauges, shadowgraph etc, plus use of CMM will be required.
3. General QA activities such as goods inwards receipt inspection and raw material control.
4. Liaising with the Engineering Manager and the Production Planner to ensure work going through the department is completed in a timely and efficient manner to meet both customer & company targets.
5. Non-conformance investigations and reporting
THE PERSON
The ideal person will have;
1. Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role
2. Experience of working to AS9100/ISO 9001 QMS procedures.
3. A good working knowledge of engineering processes (precision machining, sheet metalwork, presswork, fabrication & welding) from an inspection perspective.
4. Experience in the use of various engineering measuring equipment’s (including Aberlink CMM).
5. Experience with completion of production verification activities including First Article Inspection Reports
6. Good verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work well as part of a team and on own initiative.
7. Computer Literacy – Use of Microsoft office software including Outlook, Word, Excel, Access
